This is what I want this weekend…

too pool for school…

We used to spend Memorial Day Weekend at our house in Palm Springs.  It was glorious.  Sunny blue skies, a crystal clear view of the mountain, and lots of peace and quiet.  We don’t have that house anymore, I miss it.

We’ll be lucky if it breaks 70 in Santa Monica this weekend.  Call me a wuss, but the high 60′s are not pool weather for me.  Even though our pool here is heated, getting out of the water into a crisp ocean breeze is not my idea of fun in the sun.

I am starting to fantasize about long summer days by the pool, lounging with a beverage in hand.  Cliche?

Maybe.

I could have just titled this post “an ode to John Pawson”, but I didn’t.  Most of the images shown here are by architect John Pawson but the point here was really to showcase minimalist interiors and he happens to be the master.  In my opinion.

I find myself enraptured, drooling even, when I see a well executed minimalist space.  It’s an appreciation for something unattainable to me because I know I will never live that way and I am too much of a product whore to design anything so unvarnished and refined for someone else.  I’m not sure, did I just totally put myself down?

Anyway, some people fantasize about luxe, bountiful villas overflowing with the newest technology and piled up with lavish textiles and ornate furnishings.

I fantasize about emptiness.  Thanks John Pawson.

ombre

I am crazy for ombre.  I loved it when Prada did a line of ombre bags a few years ago and I love it now, even though its saturated the marketplace.

My hair is a little ombre.  It started out as a product of my roots growing out, but then I liked it so much that I had it enhanced.

I am loving how ombre is transitioning into interiors and furniture.  I’m thinking someone is going to have to let me ombre their walls pretty soon!
