steel.glass.ruin

Someday.  Oneday.  Out there in my world of fantasies, I dream of finding some fabulous old home to call my own.  And I mean old, like old stone, old wood plank floors, the kind of old that the earth is starting to take back.  Not too big, not too small, not a complete ruin, but also not lacking integrity in its design and layout.

The second part of my fantasy is to add on to this home.  I don’t know that this home is going to ‘need’ an add on, it very well could be spacious enough…my add on is purely artistic expression.  I want to take this beautiful home turning to rubble and leave it in as original a state as possible and then build the most modern addition I can.  Like an explosion of cool linear steel and glass erupting from this old worn down stone ruin, covered in vines.

Yes, I can see it, I can taste it.  Someday.  Oneday.

I was so inspired to come across a home done by Atlanta architects Brian Bell and David Yocum, their firm is called bldgs.  The Ansley glass house is not exactly the picture in my dreams, while the original house is older and traditional I would hardly say its close to ruin, but the concept is there and so well executed…enjoy!
