kline

Franz Kline.  Either you know the name or you don’t.  If you are reading this and you don’t know who he is…google him.

A couple of words about him.  Painter, black and white, spontaneity, abstract expressionist.

Obviously I’m a fan and think you should be too!

I love the black in this one.

I just came across this blog post on Design Milk about an exhibition of drawings done by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.

I had the pleasure of meeting them when I worked for vitra years ago.

If you can’t make it to France, here’s a taste, check out the post on Design Milk for the whole story.

BROOK FARM general store

February 15, 2011

I am OBSESSED with this shop Brook Farm General Store.  I am literally online everyday drooling over all of their AMAZING products.

I would take one of everything if I could.

Here are my top 10 picks from their online shop.

My 4 year old son is really into making cookies right now, these stars are classic…we were recently at a birthday party where there was a girl giving glitter tattoos and my son had me get a pink glittery star on the inside of my wrist.

Classic and so French

This soap looks like sculpture to me and the color is AMAZING

I love the simplicity of these hoop earrings.

This waxed canvas tote will hold everything that I schlep on a daily basis and will look good with my uniform of white shirt and blue jeans + I love that it already looks like I’ve had it for years!

I love these Tourne bath accessories.  I would use the little 2-tone cups on my desk for holding pens and colored pencils like the ones shown below…

I love a box of fresh sharp colored pencils, it’s so inspiring and makes me want to create!

These haman towels from Tunisia are so gorgeous…

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these linen trays from Japan…you can never have enough beautiful trays.

Cozy, cute heathered socks, yum.

blankee

February 13, 2011

When I was a little girl I had a blanket that went everywhere with me.  It was white silk and I called it Slimee because the silk felt slippery to me.  I know in my little 3 or 4 year old mind it made perfect sense.  Slimee went everywhere with me, we were best friends. In fact, I think Slimee even snuck its way to a few sleep-overs in junior high.  Slimee still lives in my closet, high up on the top shelf in the back, and every so often, I will reach up just to feel the soft silky comfort of my blankee…

Nowadays I still long for the comfort of curling up in the security of a much loved blanket, sometimes even when its warm outside.  I’ve gotten older and my taste more sophisticated and luckily there are some amazing blankets out there for those in need of a cuddle, like me.

I seem to be into pink lately.

The largest collection of images I have filed right now is of pink rooms.
