W H I T E

March 4, 2011

There are a lot of designers out there who will tell you that your space is uninspired, lacking dimension and just boring if you stick with white.  They’ll say that you aren’t taking risks and that no one really wants to live in white walls when there is a world of color out there just waiting to be introduced to the masses by a good designer.

Phooey, I say.  Actually, I say ‘that’s bullshit!’, to quote myself.

In my opinion you can absolutely create a dynamic and interesting space with white.  In fact, I think its easier for a designer to put a little color on the wall and call a space ‘designed’ than it is to do white right.

It takes real vision, sophistication and refinement to work with white well, and I salute those who do.

pink again

February 6, 2011

I seem to be into pink lately.

The largest collection of images I have filed right now is of pink rooms.

I’ve definitely had a thing for this green lately.  Here’s a random that makes me happy!

orange et bleu

September 6, 2010

Turquoise and Coral.  Orange and blue.

I don’t wear much jewelry.  Mostly I just wear a pair of diamond studs to dress up my otherwise boring and casual wardrobe of black, white and denim.

When I do have an occasion to wear a little jewelry, I generally choose from the healthy selection of coral that I stole from my mother.

As far as decorating goes, I find in my own home, I am drawn to different shades of blue, turquoise and green, with little pops of orange and even smaller hints of yellow.

Since blue and orange are complementary colors – opposites on the color wheel – it’s no surprise that they look so good together when used in interior spaces…

peacock

August 24, 2010

I love the color peacock.  I know that technically peacock isn’t a color, but all those colors that make up the bird, those are my colors…

I know that I have said before that grey is my neutral, and I don’t lie – it is, but mix it up with some peacock and my other favorite, white, and well…heaven.

Let’s also not forget my strange obsession with birds, together with the beautiful blues, greens and shiny that make up the color peacock and you really can’t go wrong.

This is going to be a long one…

OMG!!!  Half albino Peacock, my two favorite colors all on one bird.  This must have been made for me!!!

gray(grey)

July 20, 2010

My favorite color is gray.  I could happily live in a world of gray in a variety of textures and hues with a few accents of color here and there.  Or not.

There is something so calming and sophisticated about gray.  It’s not only easy on the eye, but on the emotions.  Just about every color works with gray, and it becomes such a lovely back ground for strong pops of color such as fuschia and yellow and cobalt blue.

For some beige is their neutral, but for me…it’s gray.

pink pink pink

I live with 3 boys.  My home is filled with trucks, trains, race cars and floating and flying objects of one sort and another.  I love it, I love them and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Every once in a while I just need a frilly, lacy, girlie getaway from all the boy.

Lately, I’ve found myself dreaming of a room all to myself.  A room only for girls where no boys are allowed, with all things soft and feminine and pink.
